couldn't agree more. From 1913 to 1929 the money supply was increased by something near 200% which led to the "roaring 20's". Combine that with the sharp raise of rates and the non-lowering of taxes is what fueled the depression till WW2. Peter Schiff says "The recession is not the problem, the artificial boom in the economy is the problem, the recession that follows is the correction." (I'm paraphrasing).

I agree with your point. Big government is a tremendous threat to our young Republic. Once thing you don't' realize is that your president Bush, in hopes of "rolling-back the Islamonazi threat" has probably increased the size and spending of the federal government more than any president since FDR. Both liberals and "conservatives", aka neo-cons, have the sickness of spending money they don't have. You say you're for smaller government, yet you support our preemptive war??

The difference is liberal entitlements create massive structural future budget obligations that require massive taxes to pay for.

Most people in power right now of the GOP are not true conservatives, they are what's called neo-cons. Go read the Project for New American Century (PNAC) which was created by the very leader of our country now. Also look into the philosophies of Carl Schmitt, who also influenced our current leaders. The GOP most people are backing, are not conservatives in the least

You are taking the tone that I'm a democratic supporter. I hate both political parties equally with all the vigor I have. The 2 party system has corrupted the American political and social landscape by giving us two and only two seemingly different choices, who have the same agenda. We go into elections with the idea of finding who we like the least, instead of finding who would be best for the job. I'm not one bit surprised the Dems. support preemptive war.

Reversal of the damaging effects of the Clinton Peace Dividend on the Military in the 90s
and
Belief that containment against Saddam would eventually fail and that it was inevitable that Saddam had to go.
They were right on both.
In the late 90s, no army division was rated combat ready.
With the Oil for Food Program, Saddam had the UN, France, Germany, China and Russia bribed to release him from sanctions.

Congressman Paul made a good observation. The suspension of habeas corpus for Japanese American citizens during WW2, while terrible, wasn't open-ended like the campaign of today. You have to remember when you consider the implications of the "war on terror" is that over one million U.S. citizens are on the NSA terror watch list. Is that necessary?

John Mccain all the way - I have looked for ways to support him and have even got my bank checks printed with his face on them. You can do the same for Obama but personally I support Mccain so i got him. I got it all done at a site called coolpersonalchecks . com on the left side there is a presidency area.
