Bach died long before Mozart was born. Mozart however, while living in Vienna would go to his patron's house every Sunday with a bunch of his colleagues and they would play the music of "forgotten" composers like Handel and Bach.

Mozart really did find Bach late in his life. His requiem was old church music and he didn't write in that style for many years. Take the Confutatis movement for example. That's so Bach. I love the piece even though it's the most controversial of his works. The second half of it isn't even his except for the chorus parts. It was only the first movement that was fully orchestrated, the rest was just a figured base line, and sketch's and the chorus parts

This song has always managed to send shivers down my spine. In a bio pic on Mozart I once saw, they had a truly magically verison of the song. Perhaps, one of the best I have heard.

Any musician of that time must have had the greatest respect and admiriation for Bach, because he made them be. Any composer and musician must have been in awe when bach combined all the different keys into one tuning, in his Well Tempered Clavier.
He's musics biggest hero and dont get that much credit for it.

Interesting point, of course everyone has always admired and respected bach. It rings a bell but i'm not sure what you mean by combining all the different keys into one tuning for his clavier. Everyone has there favorite's and he is one of the first big master's although Mozart's level of genious to many is music's finiest. I've sang both, and there both amazing if you ask me.
